Jungle Boogie, Undersea
Watercolour on Arches watercolour paper, 18 x 26 cm / 7 x 10 inches
early 2007
this is also a much loved theme of mine, perhaps originally inspired by a doodle that another art college student left in one of my journals15 years ago or so.
or perhaps not
I know, when I started doing these works they were actually meant to represent Anti-Dot Paintings as opposed to the famous and highly commercially successful Aboriginal Dot Paintings that were very much in vogue at that time.
At some point, I have heard that the Australian Aboriginal Art Market was moving ten times as much money as the rest of the Australian art market put together.
If you don't get what I mean it is perhaps because this is not such an obvious example of what I am talking about as some of the earlier works of this type.
Basically they are paintings of the space between the dots, instead of the dots themselves.
I'll try to hang some more of this series soon.
